Tips on Genie System

This is not a specific question, I just wanted to pass along some tips in the hopes that it can help us.  I've noticed a lot of posts about problems with the Genie system.  I upgraded (free) in early July.  The tech brought an old, beat up HR34, and from day one I had issues (freezing, not recording), then it conked out two weeks ago.  I have the Protection Plan, so they "overnighted" a box which I got three days later, another used HR34.  It worked much better, but then the picture started pixelating on many channels, especially HD and locals, but also on all channels.  I put in a service call, and within two HOURS a tech came---with a new HR44 box.  The picture is gorgeous, and works fine except for SOME pixilation.  Today they came back out and found severe corrosion in the splitter in the crawl space and other issues---and replaced them.  So it pays to be persistent---and nice.  One time I called I had an agent trainee who was very unsure of her self.  The supervisor later came on and thanked me for my patience, and the next call I made, the agent said there was a notation on my account for it.  One of the techs said about 50% of the HR34's are defective or have issues--and that there may not be an update available.  Hope this helps.
